MAsters Rowing

“Learn to Row was one of the best things I ever did. Not only did I learn a new sport which has become a major part of my life and fitness routine, but I also got to experience Ithaca in an incredible new way.  Gliding along the lake, just inches off the water, makes the whole world come alive.” – Lynn VanDeWeert, Masters Rower
Whether you are a parent looking to try something new, a college student trying to stay in shape, or a veteran rower looking to qualify at Head of the Charles, CBC has a boat for you!  CBC offers learn-to-row classes, coached recreational sculling, and logbook sculling for experienced rowers.

Competitive Team
This group is for experienced rowers who are a committed to training and wish to be part of a team. We meet in the early morning and row in every boat class. The team attends a few regattas every season and trains over the winter. Members of the team are required to be members of the club.

Learn to Row
If you are looking to try something completely new or are an experienced sweep rower looking to learn to scull, check out CBC's Learn to Row programs. Under coach supervision, you will learn the basics of rowing in a one-person boat which we call a single for short. Throughout the program you will work up through our stable training singles into a speedy racing single. You do not need to be a masters member to join our Learn to Row programs. Learn to Row programs are offered June - August.

Recreational Rowing
Rowers who have completed Learn to Row, or who have previous rowing experience, can join our Recreational Rowing program to get helpful feedback from our fantastic coaches and practice with other masters members. Rowers do not need to be a masters member to join Recreational rowing

Logbook (Experienced) Sculling
Experienced scullers may join CBC as masters or student members. Rowers who have passed our Captain's Test and have purchased a Masters Membership have access to club boats and can row on their own schedule or with other members. We have a number of master's rowers who compete in prestigious races throughout the Northeast such as the Head of the Genesee, the Head of the Charles, the Head of the Fish, the Green Mountain Head, and the Pittsford Invitational.
