Summer  2026
Small Boat Training and Racing

The summer program for varsity level athletes (coxswains and rowers) and two-season novice athletes (with coach permission) with the goals of increasing comfort and boat-feel in small boats, learning how to row both sides, and learning practice habits for long-term athletic development including training and racing strategies. Athletes will row in singles, doubles, and pairs (and maybe some quads or straight fours).

Who:
  • Athletes with at least one season of varsity rowing.
  • Graduating seniors may also participate.
  • Athletes with two seasons of novice (but have not yet been on varsity) will be admitted on the recommendation of their coach in consultation with the General Manager. Contact your coach to get the process started.

Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday, 6:00-8:00 am

Weeks:
  • Week 1: June 22 - 26
  • Week 2: June 29 - July 3
  • July 6 - 10 (Week off, no organized Small Boat Training)
  • Week 3: July 13 - 17
  • Week 4: July 20 - 24
  • Week 5: July 27 - 31
  • Week 6: August 3 - 7

Cost & How it works:
  • $225 per week for training
    • Additional racing fees for those who choose to compete are calculated based on entry fees, boat transportation costs, and coach time 
  • Signups are on a week-by-week basis
  • Sign up for 3 weeks in advance and receive a 10% discount on all future weeks

Races & Dates:
  • West Side Invite (West Side): Sunday, July 5 in Buffalo, NY
  • Independence Day Regatta (IDR): Friday-Sunday, July 24-26 in Philadelphia, PA
  • **CBC might host another regional club for a joint practice on the Inlet - Saturday, August 8.**

Racing Details:
To be eligible to race:
  • Sign up for the preceding two weeks and indicate your intention to race
  • Attend all practices in the two weeks before the race
To race at West Side:
  • Sign up for June 22-July 3
  • Tell the coach you intend to race
To race at IDR:
  • Sign up for July 13-24
  • Tell the coach you intend to race
Race fees will cover:
  • Entry fees
  • Equipment transportation
  • Coaching
  • The athlete is responsible for travel, lodging, food and transportation to, during, and from the regatta
