Youth Recreational Rowing
Programs

CBC offers half-day youth recreational rowing classes during the summer. This program is a fun continuation of learn to row classes for newer rowers as well as an alternative to the full summer varsity/novice schedule for experienced rowers. The focus of learn to row is developing skills to become a life long rower and building fitness.

This program is open to participants entering grades 7-12 in the fall. During each 3 hour session, students will spend time on land and on the water under the supervision of our fantastic coaches practicing in singles (one person boats) and on rowing machines (ergs).

What to bring:
  • Clothing - fitted t-shirt and bike pants or compression shorts/capris.   (Baggy clothing can get caught in the boat.)
  • Socks - you must wear socks or soft-soled reef shoes in boats
  • Sun protection - hat, sunscreen and sunglasses as you will be on the water for approximately 2hrs each session
  • Water bottle -plastic bottle, NOT metal (these can damage the boats)

Ages: Rising 7th – 12th graders
Fee: $150/week long session ($100 for July 5-9th).*
* Multi-week discount available.
 *If the costs of the program is prohibitive, we offer half fee or no fee registration. To get request a half or full fee waiver, email cascadillaboardprez@gmail.com.

Schedule:
Sessions are weekly starting June 27th through  July 29th
Sessions run Monday through Friday from 9:30am-12:00pm

A note on practices...
All practices occur in Stewart Park at Cascadilla Boathouse.  Practices are held, weather permitting, on the Cayuga and Fall Creek Inlets, and Cayuga Lake. Typically, boats go out in most weather except when there is a strong north wind or thunder. If the weather does not allow rowing, practices are held on-land and include aerobic workouts, strength training, erging, and stretching.

Participants must complete a swim test prior to the start of camp.  The test requires participants to demonstrate the ability to swim 50 yards and tread water for 10 minutes in the presence of a lifeguard who needs to certify successful completion by signing the swim test form below.
