Scholastic Spring Schedule is now posted on the Spring Scholastic page.
Masters Competitive and Recreational Programs are now up on the Masters page.

The Cascadilla Boat Club 2010 Spring Scholastic Program started with great enthusiasm in the very beginning of April. Following a very productive winter program of conditioning, erg work and tank drills this group was ready to get into the boats. This spring's schedule includes a friendly with Pittsford and Syracuse here in Ithaca. Then the crews are looking forward to New York State Rowing Championships the weekend of May 9,10. Two more regattas will follow, ending with the Pittsford Regatta on May 30,31. Go to the Spring Scholastic page for the schedule and then results following the events.
Coaches Tennant and Yarrington are providing a new level of encouragement for the Masters rowers at CBC this spring. A late winter program of conditioning and blade work in the tanks was well attended in its second offering. There is new information on the Masters page about Competive, Recreational and Adult Learn-To-Row programs this Spring and Summer. Thanks to Molly and Drew for setting up these programs.
We are scheduling our second ****Masters Work Day**** for Saturday May 1 at 10:00am. We would like to clean and inspect all of the club singles and doubles. We want these boats to be ready for our season and by checking the equipment we will insure its availability for all of us to use. In addition, by starting out with clean boats it will encourage all of us to keep up the cleaning each time we finish using them.
Adult Learn-to-Row programs will be starting at the beginning of June again this summer. Go to the 'Classes / Adult Learn-to-Row' page via the tab above to see the schedule. This year, for the first time, there will be both Beginners and Intermediate programs that will run in June and then again in July. Talk to your friends and encourage them to come join us at CBC. You can learn to row and enjoy the Ithaca waterfront.
Scholastic Learn-to-Row programs will start right after the end of school again this year. Go to the 'Classes / Youth Learn-to-Row' page via the tab above to see the schedule for this introduction to rowing. We have found that students who are able to do this summer program have a very strong skill base for starting in the fall. It is also a chance for those who are trying to decide about a high school sport to give rowing a try. Hey, you never know! We have two Olympic Gold Medal Alumni who started rowing in the scholastic program at CBC. You could be the next!
Depending on weather conditions, CBC crews can be seen training on Fall Creek, Cayuga Inlet, and Cayuga Lake. During the first few weeks of the competitive racing seasons athletes will be training to see in which boats they will be racing in. Fall Program runs weekday afternoons from mid September to early November (depending on weather) and is geared towards racing at the head race style regattas. The Fall Scholastic Season is generally more relaxed and open to all levels of rowing ability from seasoned varsity rowers to those who have yet to step into a rowing shell. On the other hand, due to the increased level of competition, the Spring program is only open to athletes with previous rowing experience. For those athletes new to the sport of rowing, we encourage you to enroll in either the Summer Youth Learn-to-Row classes or the Fall Scholastic Program. Both scholastic programs are open to athletes from Ithaca High School, ACS, Trumansburg, and Lansing. Most of our scholastic athletes will spend time in the eight-oared shells, while the more experienced may be given the opportunity to go out in either the coxed four, quad, double, or the single.

Rowing club equipment is only permitted once the water temperature is above 50 degrees. Click here to check current Cayuga Lake conditions. Once the water temperature is up to a level where it is safe for single scullers to take to the water, it will important to keep in mind these following rules and procedures:
The CBC offers many programs for those interested in the sport of rowing. The Scholastic Program brings in students from Ithaca High School, ACS, Lansing, Cascadilla School, and Trumansburg. While this group is busiest during the spring and fall months, there is also the opportunity to row during the summer months as well. For those wanting an introduction to the sport, we offer Learn-to-Row classes. These will be starting up in June and run through the summer. Finally, the Recreational and Masters groups meet throughout the week for a row either out on Cayuga Lake or down the Inlet. For more information on these programs, please check the web site.
On behalf of CBC's coaching staff, the executive, and parents booster board, We would like to welcome back all CBC club members.
