Whether you are a parent looking to try something new, a college student trying to stay in shape, or a veteran rower looking to qualify at Head of the Charles, CBC has a boat for you! CBC offers a competitive masters team, learn-to-row classes, coached recreational sculling, and logbook sculling for experienced independent rowers. All programs are for adults eighteen years and older.
Learn to Row
We have two levels of Learn to Row (LTR) classes: LTR I: Rowing Basics for those who want to try the sport for the first time and LTR II: Development for those who have completed Basics (or similar) and want to continue gaining the skills needed to row independently or on the competitive team.
Competitive Team
This program is for experienced rowers who are committed to training and wish to be part of a team. We meet in the early morning and row in every boat class. The team attends a few regattas every season and trains over the winter.
Open Sculling
Rowers who have completed Foundations of Rowing, or who have previous rowing experience, can join our Open Sculling program to get out on the water in small boats.
Logbook (Experienced) Sculling
Experienced scullers may join CBC as masters or student members. Rowers who have passed our Captain's Test and have purchased a Masters Membership have access to club boats and can row on their own schedule or with other members. We have a number of master's rowers who compete in prestigious races throughout the Northeast such as the Head of the Genesee, the Head of the Charles, the Head of the Fish, the Green Mountain Head, and the Pittsford Invitational.

“Learn to Row was one of the best things I ever did. Not only did I learn a new sport which has become a major part of my life and fitness routine, but I also got to experience Ithaca in an incredible new way. Gliding along the lake, just inches off the water, makes the whole world come alive.” – Lynn VanDeWeert, Masters Rower
